68 Years of Mighty Excellence

The “Mighty” North Jersey Chapter of Jack and Jill celebrated its 65th Anniversary in May 2016. It all began in 1949 when a group of friends, led by Natalie A. Johnson, came together to form a club that would address the social and cultural needs of their children. Formal chapter status as the North Jersey Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. occurred at the 1950 National Convention. Through the years, the North Jersey Chapter has wholeheartedly supported National, Regional and Local conferences. From hosting the Eastern Region Conference in 1961 to most recently hosting the Eastern Region Children's Cluster in 2018. The North Jersey Chapter is also proud to have sponsored four chapters into the National Organization, including: the Morris County chapter (1982); the Central Jersey Chapter (1984); the Greater Essex Chapter (2000); and the Essex-Hudson Chapter (2006). The chapter has a proud family and community-focused history exemplified by its track record of service projects, scholarships, and donations to worthy causes.

Alison Scott-Williams: Vice President, Membership

As we embark upon the 2018-2019 Chapter year, I am reminded of the strength of our chapter during these uncertain times. We have the awesome responsibility and gift of raising our children to do great things in the world as leaders. As mothers, we must continue to provide a loving example to them while balancing our families and self-care. In this year, I ask you to consider the "Three C's" that will help our Chapter and our children.

Commitment - Commit to the nourishment of self and to your unique contribution to our chapter.

Collaboration - Join with other mothers to accomplish our goals.

Communication - In our days fills with social media and smartphones it is so easy to reach out to the mothers of our Chapter...check on each other, communicate and respond.

Ali scott-ryan: Program Director

It is my pleasure to serve as Program Director for the 2019-2020 Program Year. I relish the opportunity to work with all of you to create programming that will enrich our children and enhance their lives for years to come. As we embark on this year it is important that we look to hone our children’s leadership and life planning skills.  This year our chapter goals include developing and advancing Leadership Skills, Life Planning Skills and Building On and Honoring A Legacy.  I am looking forward to an amazing year filled with learning, laughter, love and growth for us all. Oh, to be young, gifted and black… That’s where it’s at!
